The Latest On Bengaluru’s Odd V-Shaped Stream of Light

Apart from all the buzz of Valentine's day, the 14th of February also had another interesting thing to offer and citizens noticed it on Bengaluru’s skyline on Monday morning. An odd v-shaped stream of light, which many considered to be a UFO, was spotted by some citizens.

Residents began clicking pictures and posting the same on all their social media handles and within a few hours, everyone began talking about it. Spotted in the early hours of Monday morning, it was visible only for a few minutes. While the UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) theory did create speculation, people also considered it to be a natural phenomenon.

While citizens were busy tweeting about it, scientists ended all specifications and revealed the truth of the matter.

Scientists on Bengaluru’s Cone-Shaped Light Stream

The Cone-Shaped Stream of Light was not a UFO but was caused by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C52. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) had placed the same into orbit from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The rocket, which carried three satellites, is not a usual sighting for people and is only visible during dark hours.

According to Dr B S Shylaja, former director of Jawaharlal Nehru, who told the Deccan Herald that people saw the PSLV mainly because it was launched during dark hours and because the skies had good conditions. So the phenomenon is a rare one and is not something that a Bengalurian gets to see every other day.
